It has always been a dream of mine to spend time in Provence and I was lucky enough to tick it off my list (for now anyway!) a couple of months ago. It was everything I imagined and more; the markets, the wineries, the little towns, oh and the sun – so relaxing.
I stayed in a gorgeous little country house, thanks to Air BnB in Les Alpilles region, an incredible area for hikes and picnics. Surrounding towns included Saint-Remy-de-Provence, Lourmarin, Menerbes, Lacoste and Gordes (there are many more, but these are ones I made it to).
For natural wine lovers, Henri Milan from Domaine Milan makes some of the most incredible wine in the region. There are fromageries in every town, beautiful fresh produce in the markets and the most delicious nougat is a local specialty.
The towns can get pretty packed so avoid them during prime times – find somewhere sunny to drink rose instead.
Tip: Always carry a cork screw.
